Abstract:

CMV infection during pregnancy induces a number of N-nitrosation reactions in erythrocytes, which violate process of normal hemoglobin oxygenation. Abnormalities in the L-arginine-NO system cause a decrease in the antioxidant capacity of red blood cells, which is associated with reducing the amount of glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase and superoxide dismutase.
